Plan Your Advance Tax For Tax Year 2026-27

An all-heads working under the Income-tax Act, 2025 — salary, house property, business & presumptive income, capital gains, special-rate income, concessional regimes, MAT/AMT and interest on instalment shortfalls.

Tax Year 2026-27 (1 Apr 2026 – 31 Mar 2027)  ·  equivalent to old "AY 2027-28"
Section references show the Income-tax Act, 2025 number first with the familiar 1961 Act number in brackets — e.g. §202 (old 115BAC). Where a mapping has not been verified, only the 1961 reference is shown. Finance Act, 2026 changes built in: MAT at 14% as a final tax, MAT credit usable only on moving to the concessional regime (capped at 25% of tax), and Cost Inflation Index 384 for 2026-27.

1Assessee, Status & Tax Scheme

▾

2Income from Salary

▾
Standard deduction ₹75,000 (New Regime) / ₹50,000 (Old Regime), limited to gross salary. HRA/LTA and other Schedule II exemptions and professional tax are ignored automatically under the New Regime.

3Income from House Property

▾
Let-out: 30% standard deduction on NAV and interest in full. Self-occupied: NAV Nil; interest up to ₹2,00,000 in the Old Regime only. Loss from house property is set off against other heads up to ₹2,00,000 — except under the New Regime (§202), where it can't be set off against other heads and is only carried forward.

4Profits & Gains of Business or Profession

▾
Brought-forward losses / depreciation
B/F business loss is set off only against business income. Unabsorbed depreciation is set off against business income first and then against house property and other-source income (never against salary or winnings), and has no time limit. Under §202 / §200 / §201, losses and depreciation attributable to the disallowed incentives can't be set off.

5Capital Gains (add each transaction)

▾
Brought-forward capital losses
Holding periods: listed securities / equity MF units — long-term if held more than 12 months; everything else more than 24 months. Specified (debt) mutual funds, market-linked debentures and unlisted bonds/debentures are always short-term at slab rates. Indexation (CII 384 for 2026-27) is offered only for land/building acquired before 23-07-2024 by a resident individual/HUF — the lower of 20% indexed or 12.5% non-indexed is chosen per transaction. The ₹1,25,000 equity LTCG exemption is applied once on the aggregate. STCL is set off against any capital gain, LTCL only against LTCG.

6Other Sources & Special-Rate Income

▾
Special-rate income (flat 30%, no deductions, no basic exemption)
Agricultural income (exempt — used for rate purposes)
Partial integration applies to Individuals/HUFs/AOPs where agricultural income exceeds ₹5,000 and other income exceeds the basic exemption limit: tax = tax on (other income + agri) − tax on (basic exemption + agri).
Family pension deduction: lower of 1/3rd or ₹25,000 (New Regime) / ₹15,000 (Old Regime).

7Deductions

▾
Under the New Regime most deductions (80C, 80D, 80CCD(1B), 80TTA/TTB, 80G etc.) are not available. Employer's NPS contribution and the few deductions still allowed are entered in the last two boxes.
Allowed in both regimes
Chapter VI-A deductions are allowed only against income taxed at normal rates — never against STCG/LTCG at special rates, winnings or VDA income.

System-generated estimate for planning purposes, prepared by Sanchit A & Co, Chartered Accountants. Final liability to be verified before payment / filing.

Disclaimer: This calculator is provided by Sanchit A & Co, Chartered Accountants, as an estimation tool for advance tax planning under the Income-tax Act, 2025 as amended by the Finance Act, 2026. It simplifies several provisions — clubbing, DTAA rates for non-residents, the proviso easing interest where capital gains/dividends arise after an instalment date, multiple house properties, AOPs with members taxed at maximum marginal rate, foreign-source income and relief, and detailed eligibility conditions for exemptions and concessional regimes. It does not constitute tax advice, an assessment or a signed computation. Please have the final liability verified by us before remitting any instalment.
