26AS Reconciliation

Upload Form 26AS or the AIS together with the books: all customer ledgers, income ledgers and the TDS / TCS receivable ledgers. The tool matches every deductor to its party in the books, even when the names are written differently, and shows the tax credit and income the department can see that the books don't, and the reverse. Sort these out before the return is filed and before a notice arrives.

What to upload (read this first)

From the department

  1. 26AS text file: TRACES → View Tax Credit (Form 26AS) → View As Text → Export. Unzip it (password is the date of birth or incorporation, DDMMYYYY) and upload the .txt file.
  2. AIS JSON: e-filing portal → AIS → Download JSON. Upload the file as downloaded.
  3. A 26AS already converted to Excel also works.

If both 26AS and AIS are uploaded, TDS and TCS are taken from 26AS and the AIS adds the other information (SFT, interest, dividend) so nothing is counted twice. PDFs are not read.

From the books (Tally)

  1. All customer / party ledgers. Export them one by one, or all at once with Multi Account Printing → Export to Excel. Many ledgers in one sheet are split automatically.
  2. Income ledgers: Sales, Professional Fees, Rent Received, Interest Income, Commission Received.
  3. TDS Receivable and TCS Receivable ledgers.
  4. Set the period to the full year and keep the condensed view, so Particulars shows the other ledger.

How each ledger is read

  • Party ledger: bills are income, entries against TDS / TCS are tax credit.
  • Income ledger: credits are income from the party named in Particulars (value before GST).
  • TDS / TCS receivable: debits are tax credit of the party named in Particulars.

The role is guessed from the ledger name and can be changed in step 2. Any sheet with these headings is read:

Date | Particulars | Vch Type | Vch No. | Debit | Credit

STEP 1Upload files

26AS / AIS

Form 26AS text file from TRACES, AIS JSON, or a 26AS in Excel.

    Ledgers from the books

Party ledgers, income ledgers and TDS / TCS receivable ledgers. Any number of files and sheets.

26AS shows income before GST. Where a party's income is taken from its own ledger (no income ledger names it), the GST rate above is taken out of the bill value before comparing.

Match Every Credit Before the Return Goes In

We reconcile Form 26AS and AIS against your books, follow up the deductors who have not filed,
and keep your tax credit claim defensible.
